The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, monday reaffirmed his commitment to reposition the Air Force so as to effectively meet up with the 21st century security challenges.
Abubakar spoke as he inaugurated the multi-million naira new and renovated projects at the Air Force Comprehensive School, Agbani, Enugu State.

He said the inauguration of the projects was part of the ongoing efforts to reposition the force to a highly professional and disciplined force through capacity-building initiatives.

Abubakar who was represented by the Chief of Administration of the NAF, Air Vice Marshal Augustine Jekenu, said construction of the new and renovated projects was necessitated by the dilapidation of infrastructure at the school established in 2012.

He said the projects including the renovated dining hall, renovated five classroom blocks, administrative blocks, three blocks of students’ hostels, new drainages, reclaimed football field and the brand new eight-bed clinic were clear indications that his administration was committed to the welfare of the students.

He therefore enjoined all staff and students of the school to work assiduously to maintain the new infrastructure, while asking the school authorities to improve on the academic standard of the school.

He said the regularisation of the temporary staff’s appointment has become a priority to him while equipping the model clinic would be done immediately.

Earlier, the chairman of the school’s Parents, Teachers Association (PTA), Okoloagu Paschal, said the association would soon commence the execution of projects in the school worth N17.5 million as a way of contributing to improvement of infrastructure in the school.

He appealed the CAS to ensure that teachers who were seconded from the state’s education system to the school at inception in 2002 were absorbed having worked in the school for the past 14 years.
