Delta Speaker to APC Leaders: Stop Building Castles in the Air

  • Extols Okowa’s performance

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Monday Igbuya, has advised the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to stop building castles in the air.

Igbuya said the party can never win the governorship election in the state, and urging the leaders of the party to stop wasting their time on upstaging the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

“Stop dreaming. APC cannot win in Delta State,” he said

The Speaker praised Okowa for ensuring prudent spending and investing the resources towards development.

“Delta State is moving in the right direction. Okowa has performed well within the meager resources available to the state,” Igbuya said in Asaba.

He described Okowa as a benchmark for outstanding achievements in the country.

“Okowa is a dogged politician imbued with inspiring developmental and intellectual zeal. He remains the measurement of positive leadership, courage, good governance, accountability and performance in the country” he said.

“As Speaker and Chairman of the House caucus, there was no meeting where the members of the state House of Assembly complained about the performance of the governor. The members are satisfied with the performance of Governor Okowa,” Igbuya told journalists in Asaba.

He praised Okowa for his high level of transparency and accountability, stressed on the dwindling allocation to the states from the federal government.

He attributed the paucity of funds in the state to the negative impact of series of oil pipeline bombing by the new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers.

“Despite the lean purse of the state and the dwindling national economy, Delta State is up to date in its obligations to workers. Okowa places priority attention to the welfare of the entire work force in the state by ensuring regular payment to the civil servants.”

While commending the governor for his administrative style, Igbuya said the APC had disappointed Nigerians at home and abroad.

“Delta State is one of the most performing states in this dispensation,” he said.

The Speaker thanked Okowa for providing purposeful leadership and promoting the interest of the people.

He enjoined Deltans at home and abroad to join hands with the governor to develop the state.

“Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is committed to the growth and development of Delta State,” he added.
