NAF Denies Plan to Retire AVMs, Other Senior Officers

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has debunked reports that it planned to retire some of its senior officers, including those of the rank of Air Vice Marshals (AVMs).

The report had alleged that NAF may likely retire its senior officers affected in the arms procurement saga involving the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (rtd.).

However, the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, said in a statement on Tuesday that the allegations contained in the said story by one of the national dailies titled “Arms Scandal: Air Force to retire AVMs, Commodores”, was unfounded.

“The publication alleged that the NAF is at the verge of retiring a number of senior officers connected with the ongoing investigation of arms purchase under the immediate past administration,” Famuyiwa stated.
