The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, on Thursday directed all the area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the command to beef up security and be on alert at recreational centres, parks and spots where children converge this Friday May 27, to celebrate the historic day, usually marked globally as May Day.

A statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Office, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, said the Command has deployed both uniformed and plain-clothes police operatives for the provision of security at strategic spots that will likely be a beehive of activities to mark the event.

The CP, according to the statement, assured the FCT Children Parliament Committee, who paid him a courtesy visit, of protection during and after the event.

The statement read: “The CP while welcoming the Children to the Command enjoined them to obey their parents and always see themselves as good ambassadors of Nigeria who must eschew associating themselves with criminal activities or gangs that will mar their bright and promising future.”
