Jire Holds a Promise

Teenage music enthusiasts who work hard to become stars are not unknown in this clime and all over the world; with a new promise held out by 16 year-old, Olajiire Ayodeji Ajiboye who recently made a cautious entry into the music scene with his debut song titled ‘Koko’.

The new tune is a promising fusion of contemporary Nigerian sound, Afro-Pop with groovy feel that is sure to move people to the dance floor at the first encounter. However, what remains to be seen is how he distinguishes himself from the run-of-the-mill and takes his craft to a height of distinction.

Born in July, 1999 to Otunba and Mrs. Biodun Ajiboye, Jire attended Onward Nursery and Primary School Surulere, International School, Ibadan, and Christ Redeemers Secondary School, where he has just wrapped up his school leaving certificate exams.

Speaking on his background in music, the hopeful music enthusiast said, “Since I was 10 years old, I’ve always known I’ll be a professional singer, but it was tough convincing my father. Now that I’m done with school, my dad is seeing the prospects and he’s supporting me already. He has made arrangements to enroll me in music school this year so I’ll have a professional background and mastery of musical instruments.”

Inspired by successful Nigerian acts like Brymo, Davido and Olamide, Jire said he plans to drop more singles in the coming weeks. “I’m in it for the long haul, I don’t just want to be a flash in the pan and with my dad’s support and hard work, I believe the sky is the limit.”
