Hunter Remanded in Prison for Killing Friend During Hunting

A hunter in Ekiti State , Emmanuel Lamidi, 38, was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate court  for  allegedly
shooting his friend, Benjamin Patrick,  during hunting .

The police prosecutor, Sgt.Ikebuilo Monica,  told the court that the
accused committed the offence about 23:00hrs on May 8 at Awelewa farm, Ilawe-Ekiti.

He accused the defendant of shooting  the deceased   with a Dane gun
in the chest when they went hunting together in the forest.

According to her, the accused committed an offence that contravenes Section
325 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State,2012.

She stated that she had forwarded his case file to the office of the
Director of Public Prosecution, (DPP) for legal advice.

The plea of the accused was not taken but he said that he
mistakenly killed him, saying that he thought he killed an animal and not his
friend.

Also, a 62- year-old man, James Sunday was on Wednesday remanded in
prison custody by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court over allegedly
shooting a couple in front of their house.

 The Police Prosecutor  Ikebuilo told the court that the accused
committed the offence on  May 6 at Ago Aduloju area, Ado-Ekiti.
