Ooni of Ife to Embark on US Mission

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba, Dr. Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and his entourage consisting of esteemed Obas’, Governors of Nigeria and dignitaries will embark on a US Mission. Atlanta will receive Ooni Ogunwusi, from June 23 to June 25.

According to a statement, “The Atlanta planning committee is comprised of Brenda Morant, Director of the Atlanta Itinerary, President/CEO, International Women’s Think Tank and Dr. Babs Onabanjo, President/CEO; A. D. King Foundation, Inc. The committee has organised events that include: a reception at the Atlanta Airport and Atlanta City Hall, Chambers of Commerce, Tour of historical sites, The Capitol, Human & Civil Rights Museum, The King Centre, an Economic Development Summit, a gala: Celebration of Royalty and more.

Atlanta updates will be given as itinerary is firmed with times and locations. The entire US mission is organised by Prince Ayotunde Adebayo of Navi Group and will commence June 8 and continue until June 30. The monarch’s itinerary includes visiting pre-selected US locations; New Jersey will hold a Grand celebratory welcome on June 11, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is slated to host an Odunde Festival June 12, New York will host him June 13 to 15, Maryland will present the Ooni with an award and facilitate an economic summit.

Oba Ogunwusi will visit Oyetunji Village, the site of an authentic Yoruba African village from June 17-18 organised by Chief Lookman Ojora-Arounfale. Next stop will be the City of Mobile, Alabama June 20 – 22, where the Ooni will meet with governmental dignitaries, members of the Alabama Benin Forum, Dr. Sharon Ingram, Chairman of the Forum is overseeing the 3 days of activities including a spectacular “Dining with the King” dinner featuring musical expressions and a theatrical presentation.

The journey will continue with a visit to Little Rock, Arkansas from June 26 to 28. The organiser of the Arkansas event is Her Royal Highness, Princess Moradeun Ogunlana. Chicago will be the final city to receive the monarch June 28-29.
