The Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has fixed May 17, 2016 for the adoption of written addresses of both the African Development Congress (ADC) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The date was fixed after ADC and its governorship candidate closed their case.

APC called only one witness.

The African Development Congress (ADC) and its governorship candidate, Usman Zainab, are among those challenging the election of Yahaya Bello as Kogi State governor.

They closed their case after the testimony of their last witness, Raph Okoye Nwosu, who is the chairman of the party in the state.

The witness during cross examination by Bello’s counsel, Paul Babatunde Daudu, told the tribunal that they were challenging Bello’s emergence as governor of Kogi State on the ground that he (Bello) was not validly elected by majority votes cast in the election.

Nwosu who also told the tribunal that he and his party were aware of the death of the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Abubakar Audu in the election, however said his party has no right to challenge APC’s substitution of its candidate, following Audu’s death.
