Court Adjourns Sentence of Security Guard for Theft of Phones

A Lagos Magistrate Court sitting at Igbosere on Monday adjourned the sentence of a 27-year-old security guard, one Philip Peter, who ‎allegedly stole three phones worth N250,000.

The defendant pleaded guilty to stealing one Infinix phone and two Microsoft phones worth N250,000 from Park ‘N’ Shop Supermarket, where he was working as a security guard.

Peter, who is standing trial for a one count-charge of stealing preferred against him by the police, was arraigned before Magistrate H. O Amos.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on April 12 this year.

He said the incident took place at Park ‘N’ Shop supermarket on Lekki-Epe Expressway in Eti-Osa local government area. According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under sections 285 (7) of the criminal law of Lagos state 2011.

The case has been adjourned for facts and sentence till April 26 this year.
