A frontline media organisation, Leadership Newspapers Group, has conferred its Governor of the Year Award on the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Nasir Idris, in recognition of his leadership qualities.
The presentation was held at the Governor’s Lodge, Abuja, on Wednesday.
The Managing Director of the Leadership Group, Mr. Mu’azu Elzeh, presented the award on behalf of the Board of Directors and Management.
He explained that the decision was reached by the nomination and selection committee comprising the expanded editorial council, top management team, and members of the Advisory Board, after a rigorous review of numerous nominees.
Governor Idris was recognised for visionary, people-oriented governance and transformative impact, with significant interventions noted in infrastructure, urban renewal, roads, transportation, healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, and security.
Mr. Elzeh congratulated the governor, government, and people of Kebbi State and urged the governor to sustain the developmental tempo beyond 2027.
In his remarks, Governor Idris said the nomination underscores the value and impact of the government’s socio-economic projects and programmes.
He noted that while the people of Kebbi have acknowledged and appreciated the developments, the award is a testimony from society based on independent assessment of his administration’s performance.
He urged the management and staff of Leadership Group to continue playing the role of media organisations in promoting peaceful coexistence, socio-economic development, and sustainable democratic growth.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, expressed confidence in Governor Idris’s victory in 2027, in view of the unprecedented development acknowledged and appreciated by the people in the last three years.
It was recalled that prominent traditional and religious leaders, NGOs, corporate organisations, educational institutions, and trade unions across the country have been honouring the governor with prestigious titles and enviable awards.
