APC Women Activate Grassroots Structures for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election

The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has commenced a nationwide grassroots mobilisation programme aimed at building support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.

The mobilisation, led by the Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Betta Edu, under the leadership of First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is targeting women across wards and communities nationwide.

The directorate said its broader mobilisation strategy was designed to engage women around the country, with activities being organised across areas corresponding to Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units.
The figure of 176,846 represents Nigeria’s total number of polling units, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), rather than the number of communities.

The mobilisation is expected to cover ward and community meetings, with activities already reported in parts of Jigawa, Kano, Zamfara, Kwara, Imo, Cross River, Benue, Plateau, Oyo, Ondo, Rivers and Osun states, among others.

The organisers said the engagements were intended to enable women to discuss local issues, coordinate grassroots activities and communicate what they regard as the achievements and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

Among the programmes being highlighted by the women are the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and initiatives under the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The participants said NELFUND had helped some families meet tuition and upkeep costs for children in tertiary institutions, while they also cited women-focused empowerment and social intervention programmes associated with the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The mobilisation forms part of broader efforts by APC support structures to strengthen their grassroots organisation ahead of the 2027 elections. APC groups have previously announced plans covering the country’s 176,846 polling units.

The Women Mobilisation Directorate has also been associated with a target of 40 million women supporters for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, a figure reported by several media outlets in connection with the ongoing mobilisation campaign.

The directorate said ward and community engagements would continue as part of its effort to establish a coordinated grassroots network ahead of the election.

The exercise is expected to focus on direct engagement with women at the local level and on encouraging their participation in the electoral process.

INEC has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, according to its current election information.
