Okolo Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Election Victory

Hon. Jim Okolo, Nigerian Coordinator of Nouvelle Perspective, an international election observer group, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the 2026 governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke, candidate of the Accord Party, winner of the election held on Saturday.

Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 444,815 votes. The governor won 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, Okolo commended the people of Osun State for participating in the electoral process and urged the governor to focus on governance following his re-election.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and other stakeholders involved in the conduct of the election.

Okolo said the outcome of the election should mark the beginning of another phase of governance in the state and urged Adeleke to extend his administration’s attention to all sections of the state.

He further called on the governor to engage other political actors and consider constructive contributions from across the state in addressing its developmental challenges.

According to Okolo, the administration should use the renewed mandate to promote inclusive governance and pursue policies that improve the welfare of residents.

He also urged political parties and their supporters to accept the outcome of the election and continue to pursue their interests through democratic and lawful means.

Adeleke’s victory gives him another term as governor of Osun State after he was first elected in 2022 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He contested the 2026 election under the Accord Party.

Okolo said the priority after the election should be governance and the delivery of programmes that address the needs of residents across the state.
