Pi-CNG, MOFI, REA Partner Abia on Clean Mobility

The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and the Abia state government have strengthened their collaboration on clean energy, sustainable transportation and infrastructure development.

The commitment was made during a working visit to Abia State led by the Chief Executive Officer of MOFI, Dr Armstrong Takang, where the delegation was received by the state governor, Dr Alex Otti, according to a statement by the Pi-CNG office in Abuja.

Speaking during the engagement, the Executive Chairman of Pi-CNG & EV, Ismaeel Ahmed, said energy, agriculture and transportation were interconnected sectors that must be developed in an integrated manner to unlock sustainable economic growth and improve the quality of life of Nigerians.

He explained that transportation should not be viewed merely as a service, but as a critical enabler of economic activity because it facilitates the movement of people and goods, creates employment, generates wealth and improves livelihoods.

Ahmed reaffirmed the initiative’s commitment to working with the Abia State Government to accelerate the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas as a cleaner and more affordable transportation fuel.

He said Pi-CNG & EV would continue to support the development of a clean mobility ecosystem in the state through strategic partnerships, infrastructure development and sustained engagement with relevant stakeholders.

On his part, Takang said national development must extend beyond Abuja and deliver tangible benefits to communities across the country.

According to him, energy, agriculture and transportation remain three critical sectors at the centre of the federal government’s development agenda under President Bola Tinubu, stressing that their effective integration could drive economic growth, create jobs and improve livelihoods.

He added that addressing broader national priorities, including housing and infrastructure, would require stronger institutional collaboration and sustained investment.
