Journalists Urged to Harness AI to Transform Reporting

The future of journalism is being reshaped by Artificial Intelligence (AI), offering unprecedented opportunities to enhance reporting, streamline workflows, and deliver more engaging content to readers worldwide.

The Chief Executive of Chesca Global Solutions Limited, Ms. Franca Ibuzo, stated this in a press statement, noting that  “in automated news gathering, AI can scan vast amounts of data, social media feeds, and public records in real time, and help journalists identify breaking stories faster.”

According to her, during fact‑ checking and verification, with misinformation on the rise, AI tools assist in verifying sources, cross‑checking facts, and ensuring accuracy before publication.

She noted that “content personalisation and AI algorithms now tailor news delivery to readers’ interests, improving engagement and ensuring diverse perspectives reach the right audiences.”

Ibuzo added:  “Multimedia enhancement, from generating graphics to transcribing interviews, AI reduces repetitive tasks, allowing journalists to focus on news writing.”

“Transcribing and translation are powered by AI, which enables newsrooms to break language barriers, making stories accessible to international audiences instantly.”

She, however, exphasised that  “AI is not replacing journalists but rather  it is empowering them.

“By leveraging AI responsibly, we can uphold the integrity of journalism while embracing innovation that makes reporting more efficient and impactful.”

“As media organisations adopt AI, ethical considerations remain paramount. Transparency, accountability, and human oversight are essential to ensure that technology strengthens trust rather than undermines it,” she said.

She urged “media organisations management to reiterate their commitment to advancing journalism through innovation by equipping reporters and editors with cutting‑edge tools to deliver credible, timely, and engaging news.”
