African Achievers Awards 16th Edition Celebrates Continental Excellence, Leadership, and Global Collaboration in London

The 16th edition of the African Achievers Awards (AAA) convened an influential gathering of global leaders, diplomats, policymakers, innovators, and business executives in London, in a powerful celebration of African excellence, leadership, and international partnership.

The programme featured a high-level Leadership, Trade & Investment Roundtable hosted at the House of Lords by Baroness Verma, Member of the House of Lords and Chancellor of Roehampton University, UK, bringing together key stakeholders to explore opportunities for economic cooperation, sustainable development, and strategic investment across Africa and the diaspora.

This was followed by a distinguished Award Gala Dinner hosted by Lord Simon Woolley, Life Peer and Lord Temporal in the House of Lords, Principal of Homerton College, University of Cambridge, and Dr Yvonne Thompson CBE, Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London, where guests were treated to an evening dedicated to honouring exceptional individuals and organisations whose work continues to drive transformative impact across sectors and communities.

Among the honourees were Rt. Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth; Vanessa Kingori, Former Managing Director of Technology, Media and Telecommunications, Google; Aisha Maina, Managing Director of Aquarian Consult; Sarah Fafa Kpodo, Chief State Attorney, Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice, Ghana; Hon. Michael Ayuen Johnson Chuti, Member of the Parliament of South Sudan; Elsie Appau-Klu, Technical Advisor to the Ghana Revenue Authority Jane Frances Acilo from Uganda ; and several other distinguished changemakers recognised for their contributions to leadership, innovation, governance, and social development.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Dr Tonye Rex Idaminabo, FRSA, emphasised that the African Achievers Awards continues to serve as a global platform committed to elevating African excellence, service, courage, leadership, and hope, while strengthening cross-border partnerships and advancing sustainable development across the continent and its global diaspora.

As the 16th edition concluded, the Awards once again underscored its enduring mission to celebrate impact-driven leadership and inspire a new generation of changemakers shaping Africa’s future on the world stage.
