Adeniyi Leads Hasam Foundation Outreach Reaching Over 1,600 IDPs in Abuja
HASAM Foundation has successfully carried out a humanitarian outreach to the Kaura Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Abuja, providing essential food support and encouragement to more than 1,600 internally displaced persons and vulnerable families.
The intervention, led by the Foundation’s Founder, Dr. Olajumoke Adeniyi, forms part of HASAM Foundation’s mission to promote healthy and safe motherhood by supporting women, children, and vulnerable families through humanitarian assistance, public health advocacy, maternal wellbeing initiatives, and community development programs.
Beneficiaries received essential food support packages aimed at alleviating immediate household needs and strengthening food security among vulnerable populations affected by displacement and economic hardship. Particular attention was given to women, children, the elderly, and other at-risk groups within the camp community.
Speaking during the outreach, Dr. Adeniyi emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing the needs of vulnerable families and strengthening community resilience.
“As an organization founded on the principles of healthy and safe motherhood, we recognize that women and children are often among the most affected in humanitarian settings. Every displaced person deserves access to food, healthcare, education, protection, and hope for a better future. Through this intervention, we are reminding these families that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.”
Beyond the distribution of food items, the Foundation engaged residents through messages of hope, resilience, and encouragement, reaffirming its commitment to improving the wellbeing of women, children, and families in underserved communities.
A representative of the camp management highlighted the spirit of solidarity existing between camp residents and members of the host community, noting that support received is often shared among both groups.
“We do not eat alone. Whatever support comes to us, we share with the host community because we live together as one family. Acts of kindness such as this strengthen our community and give us hope for a better future,” the representative stated.
The outreach contributes directly to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 1 – No Poverty, SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
HASAM Foundation commended the management of the Kaura IDP Camp, volunteers, community leaders, donors, and supporters whose collaboration contributed to the success of the intervention.
As humanitarian challenges continue to affect vulnerable populations across Nigeria, the Foundation calls on government institutions, development agencies, corporate organizations, philanthropists, and civil society stakeholders to strengthen partnerships that improve the lives of internally displaced persons, women, children, and other vulnerable groups.
The Foundation remains committed to advancing healthy and safe motherhood, strengthening community resilience, and delivering sustainable interventions that create measurable impact and lasting social change.
