30 Days: We’ve Taken position in Nigeria’s Aviation Industry – BINANI….says Professionalism, Service Excellence Remains Priority

Folalumi Alaran in Abuja

In this interview, BINANI AIR marks 30 days since its inaugural commercial flight, the airline says its focus remains on safety, reliability, customer satisfaction, and expanding access to air travel across Nigeria, as the Group President, BINANI AIR, Aminatu Dahiru Chiroma, reflects on the airline’s first month of operation, the challenges of launching an airline in Nigeria, passenger response, and the vision driving the company’s growth.
30 days may seem like a short period, but it is also a significant milestone for a new airline. How would you describe BINANI AIR’s first month of operations?
The first 30 days have been both humbling and inspiring. When people see an aircraft take off, they often see only the final product. What they do not see are the years of planning, regulatory compliance, investments, training, stakeholder engagement, and countless hours of preparation that make that moment possible. For us, these thirty days represent much more than flights operated. They represent the fulfillment of a vision that was conceived long before the first aircraft left the runway.
We have been encouraged by the positive reception from passengers, travel partners, and industry stakeholders. Every successful flight, every satisfied customer, and every safe landing reinforces our belief that we are on the right path. Most importantly, we are grateful that our operations have remained anchored on the principles that matter most in aviation: safety, professionalism, and service excellence.
What has been the most memorable moment for you since operations commenced?
Without doubt, it was witnessing the emotions of passengers during our inaugural flight. There is something deeply moving about seeing people board an aircraft carrying not just luggage, but expectations, aspirations, and trust. I remember passengers disembark with smiles and expressions of satisfaction. Some were traveling home to reunite with family, others for business, and some were simply happy to have another reliable option within our aviation sector. Those moments reminded us that aviation is ultimately about people. Aircraft may transport passengers physically, but what they truly carry are dreams, relationships, and opportunities.
Launching an airline in Nigeria is widely regarded as a challenging undertaking. What were some of the major hurdles?
Nigeria presents both tremendous opportunities and significant operational realities for airlines. The aviation industry is highly regulated, capital-intensive, and extremely sensitive to operational standards. Every process must be approached with precision because safety leaves no room for compromise.
One of the greatest challenges was ensuring that every aspect of our operation met the highest standards before the first commercial flight. There were regulatory requirements, operational certifications, personnel training, infrastructure readiness, technical preparations, and stakeholder engagements. However, rather than viewing these requirements as obstacles, we viewed them as necessary building blocks for a sustainable airline. Our philosophy has always been simple: build carefully, build responsibly, and build for the long term.
In March 18, 2026, when the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority issued an AOC to BINANI AIR, the name Senator Aishatu Dahiru – BINANIi was all over the news, what would you say of her contribution to the establishment and early success of the airliner?
Building an airline anywhere in the world is a formidable undertaking. Building one in Nigeria requires an even greater measure of resilience, foresight, and commitment. While financial investment is essential, what ultimately sustains a vision of this magnitude is leadership. And in that regard, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani who is the airline’s chairperson and founder has been exceptional. From the earliest days of this journey, she demonstrated unwavering belief in the possibility of creating an airline that will not only compete, but also contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s aviation sector. At moments when the path seemed difficult, she remained focused on the bigger picture. Her confidence inspired confidence in others. She has consistently challenged us to think boldly while ensuring that every decision is grounded in safety, compliance, and long-term sustainability.
As we celebrate our first 30 days of commercial operations, I can confidently say that her leadership has been one of the defining factors behind our successful start. While we still have much work ahead of us this milestone stands as evidence of her vision, courage, and commitment to building an airline that Nigerians can be proud of.
I want to specially appreciate our beloved father, Ahmed Dahiru for being a strong pillar of support in prayers, advice, and words of encouragement. We could never have come this far without it. At every stage of the work, we see the fruits of his prayers and are grateful to Almighty God for the privilege of being his children.
What feedback have you received from passengers during these first 30 days?
The feedback has been encouraging. Passengers have consistently highlighted the professionalism of our crew, the courtesy of our customer service teams, and the overall travel experience. Many passengers have expressed appreciation for the warmth they encounter from the moment they interact with our staff until they reach their destination.
What particularly excites us is that passengers are becoming ambassadors for the brand. We are seeing travelers share their experiences with friends, family members, and colleagues. That kind of endorsement cannot be purchased through advertising. It is earned through service. Of course, we understand that customers’ expectations continue to evolve, and we remain committed to listening, learning, and improving.
In your view, what differentiates BINANI AIR from other operators in the market?
We respect every airline operating within Nigeria because each contributes to the development of the industry. However, what defines BINANI AIR is our philosophy. We are building an airline that places people at the center of every decision. For us, operational efficiency is important, commercial success is important, growth is important, but none of these should come at the expense of customer experience. We want passengers to feel valued, respected, and appreciated. We are not merely selling tickets. We are creating experiences built on trust, reliability, and genuine care for our customers.
How important has safety been in shaping your operations?
Safety is not one aspect of aviation. It is aviation. Every decision we make begins and ends with safety. Passengers often evaluate an airline based on schedules, pricing, or comfort. While these are important considerations, nothing matters more than ensuring that every flight operates safely.

Our teams undergo continuous training. Our procedures are designed around industry best practices. Our maintenance and operational protocols adhere strictly to regulatory requirements. The confidence passengers place in us is a responsibility we take very seriously. At BINANI AIR, safety is not a slogan. It is our culture.
Many Nigerians often speak about the need for improved connectivity. How does BINANI AIR fit into that conversation?
Connectivity is one of the most powerful drivers of economic growth and national development. When air transport improves, businesses expand, tourism grows, investment increases. Families remain connected.
Airlines do, do more than move passengers from one city to another. They create links between communities, industries, and opportunities. We see ourselves as contributors to that larger national objective. Every route we operate represents a bridge connecting people to possibilities that is why we are passionate about serving routes that create value for both travelers and the broader economy.
What have you learned personally from the airline’s first month of operations?
One lesson that stands above all others remains that people make the difference. Aircrafts are important, infrastructure is important, technology is important, but ultimately, it is people who determine success. I have seen remarkable commitment from our pilots, engineers, cabin crew, customer service officers, ground handlers, and administrative teams. Many of them work behind the scenes without public recognition, yet their dedication keeps the operation running every day. The first 30 days have reinforced my belief that when people unite around a common vision, extraordinary things become possible.
What message would you like to send to employees who have worked tirelessly to get the airline off the ground?
My message is one of profound gratitude. Every member of the BINANI AIR family has contributed to this milestone. Whether visible or behind the scenes, every role matters. The success we are celebrating today belongs to every employee who believed in the vision and worked diligently to bring it to life. I encourage them to remain focused because this milestone is not the destination. It is only the beginning. The future will demand even greater excellence, innovation, and dedication. I have every confidence that together we will rise to that challenge.
As BINANI AIR celebrates its first 30 days, what should passengers and stakeholders expect in the months ahead?
Our focus remains clear. We will continue strengthening operational reliability, enhancing customer experience, and pursuing sustainable growth. We will continue listening to our passengers because their feedback remains one of our most valuable resources. We will continue investing in our people because exceptional service begins with empowered employees, and we will continue building an airline that Nigerians can trust and be proud of. The first 30 days have been encouraging, but our ambition extends far beyond the first month. We are building for the future. Our journey is still in its early chapters, and we believe the best pages of the BINANI AIR story are yet to be written.
“30 days ago, we took off with a vision. Today, we celebrate a milestone. Tomorrow, we will continue the journey. To every passenger who has flown with us, every partner who has supported us, and every employee who has contributed to our success, we say thank you. Your trust gives us the wings to keep moving forward.”
