Afrobeats Takes Centre Stage as Three Nigerian Stars Feature in FIFA

Afrobeats superstar Davido, for the second time will be performing at a FIFA-related event following his debut on December 18th, 2022, after becoming the first-ever Nigerian artiste to perform at the World Cup final. This comes as he joins a list of artists in what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, football and culture at the World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles on June 10, 2026.

The show will be held at the famous Crypto.com Arena and is part of the build‑up to the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Davido and Major Lazer are the first artists confirmed for the Los Angeles show, with more performers billed to perform at the event, which is part of a synchronised live concert series taking place across the three host nations.

The LA concert is one of three Countdown Concerts being held across the World Cup host countries. The organisers revealed the concert details on June 2, 2026, through their X and Instagram accounts. They explained the event is being put together in partnership with the Recording Academy, featuring Davido alongside Diplo’s Major Lazer group as headliners.

A few weeks earlier it was revealed that Afrobeats star Rema will be performing at the World Cup opening ceremony. Rema will perform alongside American rapper Future, Katy Perry, BAnitta, South African sensation Tyla and LISA. Last month, Colombian singer Shakira announced ‘Dai Dai’ as the official theme song for the Mundial, featuring Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy.

In a latest development, Nigerian songstress and Grammy nominee, Ayra Star have also been unveiled as part of the official soundtrack album for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including Davido, Rema, and Burna Boy. These Nigerian superstars are highlighted on the official 18-track album, pairing Afrobeats talent with international heavyweights across multiple tournament anthems.

Ayra Starr joins American rapper Latto on a track titled “Show Me,” while Davido teams up with Major Lazer and Nelly Furtado for “No Place Like Home.” The album also showcases Rema who partnered with Lisa & Anitta for “Goals” and Burna Boy for “Dai Dai” featuring the legendary Shakira, further highlighting the global influence of Afrobeats on the world stage.

South African Tyla is also on the album as she was on “Game Time” featuring Future. FIFA said the album is designed to reflect global unity through football and music, under the theme ‘Football Unites the World’. The track list project brings together “an extraordinarily strong music squad” for the global tournament. The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2026.
