Women in DeFi Summit 2026: Betaling Africa Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Financial Innovation

Betaling Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to building a more inclusive financial future following its participation in the Women in DeFi Summit 2026, a leading gathering of innovators, founders, developers, investors, and industry leaders advancing women’s participation across blockchain, decentralized finance (DeFi), and emerging financial technologies.

Held in Lagos under the theme: “Beyond the Bridge: African Women Leading the Future of Web3,” the summit brought together stakeholders from across Africa to explore the opportunities, challenges, and innovations shaping the next generation of financial services.

Representing Betaling Africa at the summit was Chief Operating Officer and Head of Compliance, Hazel Ariaga, whose participation reflected the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote inclusion, innovation, and leadership within Africa’s evolving financial ecosystem.
For Betaling Africa, supporting the summit reflects a broader belief that the future of finance must be built through collaboration, inclusion, and access to opportunity.

As financial systems continue to evolve, the company believes that innovation is strongest when diverse voices contribute to shaping the technologies, products, and infrastructure that power the global economy.

Throughout the summit, participants explored topics ranging from financial inclusion and digital assets to blockchain innovation, decentralized finance, and the growing role of women in shaping Africa’s digital economy.

The event also created opportunities for networking, knowledge sharing, mentorship, and collaboration among emerging and established leaders within the ecosystem.
Commenting on the significance of the summit, Chief Executive Officer of Betaling Africa, Oluwatomisin Ashimolowo, said: “Supporting women in finance and DeFi is an investment in communities, not just individuals. Across Africa, when you empower a woman, you strengthen a household, a neighbourhood, and an economy.

“The truth is, payments across Africa are still broken, and solving that requires fresh perspectives and people who refuse to accept the status quo. The more we expand who gets to build, the faster we fix what is broken.

“Ubuntu teaches us that progress is never individual — I am because we are. At Betaling, as we grow, our commitment is to ensure the opportunities we create reach further and mean more. Initiatives like the Women in DeFi Summit remind us exactly why that work matters.”

Throughout the event, Betaling Africa engaged with founders, builders, operators, investors, and ecosystem stakeholders, exchanging ideas on the future of financial infrastructure and the importance of creating pathways for greater participation across technology and finance.

As a company focused on enabling seamless cross-border transactions and global financial connectivity, Betaling recognizes that access to financial services is strengthened when innovation is supported by inclusive ecosystems, strategic partnerships, and ongoing talent development.

The company’s support for the Women in DeFi Summit reflects its continued commitment to initiatives that encourage participation, accelerate innovation, and create opportunities for underrepresented voices within the financial and technology sectors.

As Africa’s digital economy continues to expand, Betaling Africa remains committed to supporting the infrastructure, partnerships, and communities that will shape the future of finance across the continent.
