A new full-service beauty salon aiming to simplify self-care for busy women and mothers is set to open its doors on Hillcroft Street this November.

Founded by stylist and entrepreneur Jalia Walda, Jalia Walda Salon officially launches on Saturday, Nov. 22, after what Walda described as a two-year journey to bring the concept to life. The salon combines multiple beauty services including hair braiding, lashes, nails, facials, and haircuts under one roof.

Speaking during a recent interview ahead of the opening, Walda said the idea was inspired by the need for convenience and personalized care in the beauty industry.

“This concept is a one-stop shop that combines hair braiding, lashes, nails, facials, haircuts everything beauty under one roof,” she said.

The salon’s model is designed with flexibility in mind, offering both appointments and walk-in services for clients with unpredictable schedules.

Walda said one of the salon’s defining features is its focus on mothers, a group she believes is often overlooked in the beauty industry. The salon includes a dedicated space where mothers can receive beauty services while keeping an eye on their children.

“We looked at this industry and realized mothers are not thought about,” Walda said. “You shouldn’t have to find daycare or sacrifice a lot just to get your hair or nails done.”

As a mother herself, Walda said she wanted to create an environment where women could feel comfortable and cared for without the stress of arranging childcare separately.

In addition to convenience, Walda emphasized professionalism and hair care as central parts of the business model.

“When it comes to hair, we’re not just braiding hair,” she explained. “We are taking care of your hair before we actually braid it. We have professionals on site experts who are good at what they do.”

The salon owner also credited her husband for supporting the project throughout its development.

“Me and my husband are very excited,” she said. “He does most of the job.”

The grand opening celebration is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Nov. 22 and will include entertainment, refreshments, gifts, free wigs, and beauty products alongside salon services.

Clients can book appointments through the salon’s social media platforms and website, though Walda said walk-ins will also be welcomed.

“We’re always there waiting to service you,” she said.

Jalia Walda Salon will operate from its Hillcroft Street location, just down from the local station area, according to the interview.
