As part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary, the Naval Dockyard Limited has extended its corporate social responsibility efforts to schools within its host communities, donating stationery and educational materials to four institutions.

The outreach, held on Tuesday, was by the Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard Limited, Rear Admiral I.E. Shehu, who was represented by Commodore O.D. Ogbologu.

Schools that benefited from the gesture include Awoyaya Community School, Victoria Island Nursery and Primary School, Federal Housing Estate Nursery and Primary School, and ANSAR-UD-DEEN School.

Addressing pupils during the visits, Commodore Ogbologu urged them to remain steadfast in their studies, emphasising the values of discipline, dedication and excellence.

He noted that education serves as a critical foundation upon which future success is built.

The Commodore also used the occasion to reaffirm the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to deepening its relationship with host communities through meaningful initiatives that promote education and broader community development.

The visits were marked by warm exchanges between naval personnel, school authorities and pupils, with students across different classes engaging naval officers in friendly conversations.

The atmosphere was one of joy and encouragement, with pupils visibly excited by the interaction.

Speaking on behalf of the schools, the headmistresses praised the Naval Dockyard Limited and the Nigerian Navy for the intervention, describing the donations as both timely and significant to ongoing learning activities in their schools.

They also commended the Navy for ensuring its anniversary celebrations extended beyond strictly military engagements to touch the lives of young learners and their surrounding communities directly.

The outreach served as a further demonstration of the Nigerian Navy’s determination to complement its core mandate of maritime security and national defence with sustainable community-focused initiatives, as it commemorates 70 years of dedicated service to the nation.
