Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has assured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the party primaries in the state would be very transparent, free and fair.
Eno gave the assurance while addressing the people of his local government area, Nsit Ubium, during a special consultation visit held at the home of the area’s political leader, Senator Effiong Bob, stressing that the state has been peaceful and must remain so during and after the exercise.
The governor lauded the people of the area for their support and cooperation, and especially for speaking with one voice ahead of the primaries and the 2027 general election.
“I consider it most expedient for me to see and notify my people officially of my intention to go for second term as governor in the year 2027.
“As you will support me, we will also support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other APC candidates,” he said.
He said given the current temperature in the State, the party primaries billed to commence on today, Friday, May 15, 2026, will be very smooth and devoid of hitches.
Eno urged everyone to approach the primaries with decorum and with a sense of responsibility, adding that the peace of the state should not be sacrificed for any personal or group interest.
He appealed to party members to show respect to the leadership of the party at all levels, and to turn out at their ward centres to take part in the primaries, and to ensure that it was successfully conducted.
Bob, speaking, appreciated the governor for his impactful leadership in three years, saying they were proud of his performance.
He commended the people for always rising in unison to support quality leadership and governance as exemplified in the unanimous support for the Eno administration.
