The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo in Ondo State, Professor Oyesoji Aremu, on Wednesday hailed the National Universities Commission (NUC) for granting full accreditation to seven academic programmes of the institution, describing the development as a strong validation of the university’s commitment to academic excellence.

Aremu said the accreditation was a major boost to the institution’s academic profile and a clear reflection of its sustained investment in quality teaching, faculty development, modern learning facilities and curriculum innovation.

The accreditation followed an assessment exercise conducted by the NUC in October and November 2025, during which the university’s programmes were subjected to a comprehensive evaluation.

The programmes granted full accreditation are Medical Laboratory Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microbiology, Criminology and Security Studies, as well as Sociology.

In a formal letter dated April 7, 2026, and signed by the Commission’s Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu, the NUC confirmed that the programmes met the Commission’s stringent quality assurance requirements in areas including curriculum content, staffing, infrastructure, library resources and academic delivery.

The Commission noted that full accreditation, which is the highest accreditation status awarded to academic programmes in Nigerian universities, remains valid for a period of five years.

Reacting to the development, Aremu expressed delight over what he described as cheering news for the university community.

“I’m excited to inform you that the university has secured full accreditation for these programmes from the NUC. The news is cheering, and indeed a good one to start the new week,” he said.

He noted that the achievement was the outcome of deliberate and sustained efforts by the university to uphold high academic standards in line with global best practices.

According to him, the feat would not have been possible without the collective commitment of the Governing Council led by the Pro-Chancellor, Professor Bode Ayorinde, principal officers, deans, heads of departments and members of staff.

Aremu congratulated the university community on the achievement and urged them not to relent in sustaining the institution’s culture of excellence.

“We will not rest on our oars, even as we draw encouragement from this achievement. I urge all members of the university community to remain steadfast in upholding and continually advancing the high standards of excellence for which Achievers University is renowned,” he added.

He added that the latest accreditation success will further strengthen Achievers University’s standing as one of Nigeria’s fast-rising private universities committed to delivering quality higher education.
