Gombe Appoints Leadership of State Electricity Regulatory Body
Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the appointment of the Chairman and Commissioners of the newly established Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC).
The appointments, with effect from January 21, 2026, were earlier forwarded to the Gombe State House of Assembly, which has since confirmed them in line with the enabling law establishing the commission.
Conveying the governor’s approval, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, said the constitution of the leadership team for GOSERC was in furtherance of the governor’s commitment to building a robust, transparent and investor-friendly electricity market in the state, in line with the opportunities created by the ongoing decentralisation of Nigeria’s power sector.
The appointees are: Dr. Usman Abba Arabi (Chairman) as well as Sule Usman; Abubakar Sa’ad; Ahmed Ibrahim Pindiga; Lydia Ali and Talatu Abubakar as commissioners.
Yahaya expressed confidence that with the calibre of professionals nominated to lead the commission, GOSERC will provide the regulatory backbone required to improve service delivery, enforce technical and economic standards, protect consumers and stimulate investments in both urban and rural power infrastructure across the state.
The governor also said he believed that the commission will serve as a critical institution in driving the state’s power sector reforms, expanding access to electricity, particularly in underserved communities, and supporting the industrialisation and economic development agenda of Gombe State.
