Nest of Dreams Foundation Extends ‘Sponsor A Child’ Campaign to Lagos School

The Nest of Dreams Children’s Foundation has continued its drive to improve access to education for vulnerable children with the successful execution of the second edition of its flagship “Sponsor A Child” campaign at Kiniun-Ifa Nursery and Primary School, Gbagada, Lagos.

The outreach, which formed part of the foundation’s efforts to reduce the burden of school-related expenses on low-income families, saw the distribution of essential learning materials to pupils of the school.

Items distributed included brand new school uniforms, socks, school bags, notebooks and complete stationery sets.

According to the foundation, the intervention was designed to address one of the major causes of absenteeism and school dropouts among children in underserved communities — the inability of parents to provide basic educational materials.

Speaking during the outreach, founder of the foundation, Opeyemi Kotun, said the initiative was aimed at removing the obstacles preventing children from accessing quality education.

“We believe that providing these basic learning materials removes the silent barriers that stand between a child and their true potential,” Kotun said.

“Seeing the pure joy and excitement on the faces of these brilliant children as they received their items was a profound reminder of exactly why we do this work,” she added.

The foundation disclosed that with the completion of the first and second editions of the programme, a total of 52 pupils have now been sponsored under its “Sponsor A Child” campaign.

It noted that beyond the distribution of educational materials, the initiative seeks to restore confidence and dignity among the children by ensuring they are properly dressed and equipped for learning.

The foundation said its operations are guided by the belief that every child deserves a safe and supportive environment where education, wellbeing and personal dreams are nurtured.

By supporting the pupils with the tools needed for their studies, the organisation said it is investing in the next generation of self-reliant and responsible leaders.
