Rt. Hon. Sanusi Garba Rikiji Bags PhD in Security and Strategic Studies

Rt. Hon. Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Sadaukin Zamfara), the current Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations, has been conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Security and Strategic Studies by the Senate of Nasarawa State University. This honor, awarded after he fulfilled all academic requirements among the 2022–2026 graduating class, adds another distinguished feather to the cap of a man whose career has been defined by service, scholarship, and leadership.

Rikiji’s rise in public life is a story of resilience and dedication. Before assuming his present role at the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations, he served as Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, a two-time Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Chairman of the Conference of Northern States Speakers of Nigeria, Acting Governor of Zamfara State, Commissioner of Finance, and twice as Special Adviser on Public Private Partnership and Poverty Alleviation. Each of these positions underscored his ability to lead with vision and integrity, earning him respect across political and institutional divides.

His academic journey began at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a BSc Ed in Business Education and later a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy. The newly acquired PhD in Security and Strategic Studies further strengthens his capacity to contribute to national and international discourse on security, trade, and strategic development—areas of critical importance to Nigeria’s future.
