From Turntables to Impact: DJ Uglymoney Blends Music with Humanitarian Vision
By Benson Micheal
Marfo Emmanuel, popularly known as DJ Uglymoney, is a Kumasi-born multifaceted DJ, songwriter, and artist whose journey into disc jockeying and singing has evolved into a platform for social impact.
DJ Uglymoney began his creative career in the Krofrom area, where he gained attention for both his singing and DJing skills. Working closely with fellow musicians such as Victor AD, Magnito, Okyeame Kwame, Shatta Wale, and Hotkidfire, he gradually built a strong online following. A recent collaboration with Terry Apala, Magnito, and Hotkidfire further boosted his visibility, sparking reactions and conversations across social media platforms.
“Giving has become part of my lifestyle. It’s something I’ve carried since childhood,” he said. “DJing and singing have given me the courage to give more and make a positive impact on people’s lives. Humanitarian work brings me true happiness.”
DJ Uglymoney also shared his perspective on success, describing it as more than personal achievement or online popularity.
“Success means achieving meaningful goals, growing as a person, and staying true to one’s values,” he said. “It’s about making a positive impact on yourself and others, and finding joy in the journey, not just the final result.”
He added that music comes with responsibility, noting that visibility should be used for the benefit of society.
“Singing is both my platform and my responsibility. It allows me to spread joy, offer help where it’s needed, and use my visibility for the public good,” he said. “When music is connected to community, musicians can do more than entertain—they can inspire real change.”
