A former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, on Tuesday, emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Adeyemo was unanimously adopted as the consensus candidate at the party’s state congress held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

The congress was witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Adeyemo served as deputy governor to former governor of the state, late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who ruled between 2011 and 2019.

He is from Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of the state.

His emergence was announced by a former APC National Youth Leader and Secretary of the party’s ad hoc zoning committee, Mr. Afeez Bolaji Repete, under the supervision of the congress committee constituted by the party’s national leadership in Abuja.

The congress, which attracted party leaders and delegates from across the 33 local government areas of the state, was conducted peacefully.

The emergence of Adeyemo as state chairman is seen by party faithful as a strategic move ahead of future political engagements in the state.

Others elected at the congress include Wasiu Olawale Sadare who was returned as Publicity Secretary of the party.
