Blishcrown: Digital Boardman Bringing Fair Play Back to Competitive Gaming Worldwide
A Nigerian-born technology professional in the United Kingdom, Adedapo Idris Morenigbade, is preparing to launch Blishcrown, a skill-based gaming platform designed to export Nigeria’s grassroots gaming culture into the global digital economy.
Blishcrown is rooted in the informal but highly structured game centre ecosystems that
flourished across Nigerian universities and urban communities in the early 2000s.
These centres operated on principles of fairness, reputation, and skill-based competition, values the platform seeks to preserve digitally.
Morenigbade, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), described the
platform as a cultural translation rather than a conventional tech startup.
“Those game centres were self-regulating communities. Skill was
the currency, and fairness was enforced organically. Blishcrown is
an attempt to institutionalise that culture using modern technology,” he said.
After building businesses in Nigeria across trading and manufacturing, Morenigbade relocated to the United Kingdom in 2022, where he currently works as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer. His exposure to global technology standards influenced the architectural and governance principles behind Blishcrown.
The platform enters a global gaming market increasingly criticised for pay-to-win mechanics and opaque reward systems. Blishcrown differentiates itself by prioritising transparent competition, skill validation, and community governance.
Beyond entertainment, the founder views Blishcrown as part of a broader conversation around
Africa’s role in exporting digital culture, not just consuming global products.
“We often talk about exporting music and fashion. Gaming culture
is another asset Africa can formalise and scale,” Morenigbade
noted.
Blishcrown is registered in the United Kingdom and is currently onboarding early users ahead of
its official launch
