The Director General of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Dr. Funke Adepoju has reiterated the college’s commitment towards upholding professionalism, transparency, merit and institutional integrity in the recruitment, training and development of human resources for the Nigerian public service.
She stated that this commitment underpins the conduct of the 2026 Public Service Examination (PSE), which the college recently, concluded, in line with its statutory mandate.
She explained that the public service examination serves as a critical gateway for ensuring quality entry and career progression within the public service, while also supporting effective manpower planning across government institutions.
According to her, “the examination is being conducted for candidates drawn from Federal and State Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including State Civil Service Commissions, Local Government Service Commissions, parastatals and other public institutions across the federation.
She disclosed that a total of 2,103 candidates were duly registered for the 2026 exercise, representing 20 client organisations nationwide. Participating organisations include the Civil Service Commissions of Oyo, Ondo, Enugu, Ekiti, Delta and Anambra states, among others.
Adepoju noted that the PSE is designed to assess the suitability of fresh graduates seeking appointment into the administrative and specialised departmental cadres of the public service. It also provides a credible and transparent platform for serving officers seeking conversion from the executive cadre to the officer cadre after acquiring relevant degree qualifications.
She added that the examination equally addresses the broader human capacity development needs of client organisations, while reaffirming the college’s commitment to sustaining high standards in public service recruitment and development across the country.
