The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has taken a bold step to sharpen its edge in trade facilitation by spearheading a pivotal management training at its Abuja headquarters.
Led by Comptroller General Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), the session gathered top NCS executives—including Deputy Comptrollers General and Assistant Comptrollers General—to deeply embed the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) principles and the Business Facilitation Act (BFA) 2022 into daily operations.
This internal drive targeted core BFA reforms like transparency, automation, default approvals, and seamless inter-agency teamwork—essentials for slashing trade delays and supercharging Nigeria’s global business ranking.
Through sharp presentations, real-world case studies, and hands-on debates, Reverso Business Services Limited dissected NCS’s track record under the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), spotlighting progress from 2023 to 2025 in efficiency and openness, while tackling lingering operational hurdles.
Reverso Business Services Limited partnered with NCS to deliver the program, with Managing Partner Mr. Ayokunnu Ojeniyi praising the Service’s frontline role: “The Nigeria Customs Service sits at the heart of Nigeria’s Ease of Doing Business agenda.
As the primary gatekeeper of trade, every import and export passes through Customs.
This means that how Customs operates directly shapes the experience of businesses, investors, and the wider economy.
Strengthening institutional capacity within NCS is therefore critical to building a more efficient and competitive business environment for Nigeria.
”The agenda went further, diving into leadership mastery with sessions on accountability, collaboration, trust-building, and performance metrics.
NCS executives crafted tailored action plans to dismantle clearance bottlenecks, foster agency partnerships, and elevate service delivery—directly fueling Nigeria’s investment appeal.
Data reviewed showed NCS’s compliance soaring across key metrics from 2023-2025, underscoring the payoff of prior reforms and setting the stage for even greater leaps.
Reverso, a consultancy specializing in public-sector transformation across Africa, supports institutions like NCS with embedded expertise, guiding reforms from blueprint to breakthrough results.
