Adetola Famojuro Champions Melanated Skin with Ebun Derma

Hailing from Osogbo, Osun State, Famojuro began her journey in 2011, offering makeup services and beauty products while pursuing her degree in History and International Relations at Obafemi Awolowo University.

She quickly realised that melanated skin was often underserved in the skincare world. “Beauty has always been my first love. I wanted to create products that truly understand and respect melanated skin,” she explains.

Since its launch in 2022, she affirmed that Ebun Derma has sold over 30,000 bottles, earning a reputation for effective, inclusive skincare. Its name, drawn from Yoruba words ‘Ebun’ meaning gift and ‘Derma’ meaning true skin, embodies the brand’s promise to empower confidence and celebrate natural beauty.

She added: “Our products are designed with care and precision. Every bottle represents our promise to help people feel confident and radiant.”

The brand is now preparing to launch SPF 50+, a product perfected over two years, alongside the opening of its first permanent site. “Our mission is to empower every individual with melanated skin to feel confident, protected, and celebrated,” she says.

Balancing personal milestones with professional growth, Adetola celebrated marriage in 2024 and motherhood in 2025. “Success is not only about growth in business but also about embracing the journey and cherishing the moments that matter,” she reflected.

Ebun Derma goes beyond products by educating customers on skincare practices, sharing tips and insights that help people achieve healthy skin at home.

In her words, “We want everyone to understand their skin, to feel confident in their choices, and to embrace their natural beauty.”

As she looks to the future, Adetola is determined to take Ebun Derma to international markets while staying true to its African roots. She envisions a brand that not only competes globally but also inspires pride in African innovation. “Our goal is to show that African innovation can shine globally and that beauty products can be effective, inclusive, and elegant,” she says.
