Olabimpe Fapohunda-Dube Emerges as a Leading Voice in Menstrual Health Advocacy
Olabimpe Olufunmi Fapohunda-Dube has steadily distinguished herself as a prominent advocate for women’s health, combining professional expertise, lived experience, and grassroots engagement to advance awareness around endometriosis and adenomyosis in Nigeria and beyond.
Born on August 20, 1981, in Lagos, Nigeria, Olabimpe hails from the Fapohunda family of Ondo Town. Her early education began in Ibadan, where she attended Sacred Heart Nursery School before proceeding to Bodija International School for her primary education. She later completed her secondary education at Command Day Secondary School, Odogbo Cantonment, Ibadan.
Driven by a passion for science and health, Olabimpe earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Lagos State University (LASU). She furthered her professional training at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa, where she attended pharmacy school. Her academic journey continued in the United Kingdom, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Promotion from Robert Gordon University, Scotland.
Her advocacy journey took a defining turn in May 2020 with the establishment of the Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Foundation (EAF). Since its inception, the foundation has grown into a vital platform for education, support, and awareness, reaching over three million people through targeted programmes and campaigns. Through EAF, Olabimpe has engaged schools, orphanages, markets, hospitals, religious institutions, businesses, and local communities, fostering open conversations and providing support for individuals affected by menstrual health conditions.
Beyond advocacy, Olabimpe is also an author. Her memoir, A Period Is Not a Full Stop, available on Amazon, offers a deeply personal account of her journey with endometriosis. The book has become a valuable resource for women living with the condition, offering both insight and encouragement.
In a bid to reach an even wider audience, she launched a YouTube series titled The Journey with Bimpe, where she shares educational content and practical information on endometriosis and adenomyosis. Her expertise and advocacy have also seen her featured across various media platforms in Nigeria, where she continues to promote open dialogue on women’s health and push for policy reforms that support individuals affected by menstrual health challenges.
Olabimpe’s impactful work has earned her numerous awards and recognitions, including a Humanitarian Service Award from the Rotary Club, commendations from Lagos State University, and honors from the Oyo State Chapter of the Counselling Association of Nigeria. She has also received recognition from Ekimogun Youth Connect, Achievers University, the Oduduwa Special Recognition Award, and an Award of Excellence from the Federation of Ondo Ekimogun Students’ Union (FOESU), Adeyemi Federal University of Education Chapter.
As she continues to expand the reach and impact of the Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Foundation, Olabimpe Fapohunda-Dube is also working on a second book aimed at providing further support for individuals living with endometriosis. Her work remains a testament to the power of advocacy rooted in empathy, education, and sustained community engagement.
