Dogara Urges Nigerians to Find Strength in Christmas Spirit
Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), has called on Nigerians to draw strength from the true meaning of Christmas as the nation continues its journey of renewal.
In his Christmas message, Dogara said the birth of Jesus Christ is a reminder of God’s boundless love and a call to embrace humility, compassion, and generosity. He noted that Christmas is not only a season of joy but also a time to reflect on values that unite people across ethnic and religious divides.
Dogara urged Christians to remember the less privileged and extend kindness to those in need, stressing that acts of service and selflessness are essential for building a society where justice and fairness prevail. He explained that Christmas should inspire Nigerians to heal divisions, strengthen bonds of brotherhood, and recommit themselves to building a nation anchored on love and unity.
Addressing Nigeria’s present challenges, Dogara encouraged citizens to remain patient with the administration, noting that reforms being implemented are beginning to yield results. He emphasized that nation-building requires sacrifice, endurance, and faith, and urged Nigerians to look beyond immediate hardships to the brighter future that lies ahead.
Speaking as Chairman of NCGC, Dogara highlighted the importance of building trust and fostering inclusion in governance. He said creating opportunities that uplift lives is not only the responsibility of leaders but also a shared duty of all citizens. He added that Christmas should remind both leaders and followers of their responsibility to build a nation where every citizen can flourish in dignity and hope.
Dogara concluded his message with prayers for peace, joy, and renewed strength across Nigeria. He urged citizens to celebrate Christmas with gratitude, live with purpose, and step into the new year with confidence that the country’s best days are still to come. “Merry Christmas to all, and may the blessings of this holy season abide with you now and always,” he said.
