Onaiwu Commends Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal on Health Sector Award

Former Director General of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has commended the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, for his achievements in transforming the state’s health sector.

Governor Lawal recently emerged as the Best Governor in the North West for Health Sector Transformation, following notable improvements in Primary Health Care delivery across Zamfara State.

The award, which comes with a $500,000 cash prize, was presented by the Gates Foundation in collaboration with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

According to Onaiwu, the recognition reflects Governor Lawal’s commitment to improving healthcare services at the grassroots, upgrading primary healthcare centres, and expanding access to quality medical care for women, children, and rural communities.

He noted that the governor’s focus on Primary Health Care has led to visible progress in service delivery and health outcomes, positioning Zamfara as a leading example in the North West region.

Onaiwu congratulated the government and people of Zamfara State, describing the award as a proud moment and a clear sign that effective leadership and clear priorities can bring meaningful change.

He expressed confidence that Governor Lawal will continue to strengthen the health sector and build on these gains for the benefit of all citizens of the state.
