Young Nigerian Influencer Smart BM Reflects on Rise and Repeated Setbacks in Digital Media
Lagos, Nigeria — Emerging Nigerian social media figure Smart BM, whose full name is Aina Precious Ayomide, says his early journey as a digital influencer has been marked by both rapid growth and significant challenges, including multiple account bans across platforms.
Smart BM, who began creating content on TikTok earlier this year, describes himself as an influencer focused on building an online presence through short-form videos and audience engagement. He attended Zenith Nursery and Primary School, Ventland Junior Grammar School, and later Yewa Egbado College in Ilaro.
Despite being relatively new to the digital space, Smart BM says he has achieved personal milestones he considers noteworthy, including purchasing a car and securing accommodation on the Lagos mainland. “Omoh my Benz,” he remarked humorously during a conversation about his progress.
However, he also notes that the path has not been without obstacles. According to him, repeated enforcement actions against his social media accounts have disrupted his efforts to maintain consistency. “Account banning… I was banned nine times,” he said, describing it as one of the major setbacks he has faced since joining the platform.
Digital analysts say repeated account removals are becoming increasingly common among new creators, as automated moderation systems struggle to balance platform policy enforcement with user growth. While Smart BM did not specify the reasons behind the bans, creators in similar situations often cite misinterpretation of content guidelines or challenges appealing automated decisions.
As he continues to build his presence, Smart BM maintains that persistence is central to navigating the competitive influencer ecosystem. For many young content creators in Nigeria’s expanding digital economy, his experience reflects both the opportunities and uncertainties of growing an online career.
