Ndume Urges Northern Govs to Adopt Zulum’s Security Template, Hails Tinubu
Sunday Aborisade in Abuja
A former Leader of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume, has urged governors across the North to adopt the Borno State security model, declaring that President Bola Tinubu’s recent emergency measures on insecurity were already producing tangible results.
Ndume, who represents Borno South, said in a statement yesterday in Abuja that despite recent high-profile kidnappings in Kebbi, Niger, and Kwara States, the coordinated actions ordered by the president were beginning to shift momentum in favour of security forces.
The senator reserved special praise for Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, saying his aggressive, hands-on security investments should serve as a benchmark for other Northern leaders.
Ndume disclosed that Zulum had committed more than N100 billion to support the Nigerian Army, Civilian JTF, Police, and other security outfits in Borno.
“Governor Zulum has shown determination to rout the insurgents. His investments have complemented the efforts of the Nigerian Army. That’s very commendable. I urge other governors in the North to emulate him,” he declared.
Ndume asserted that with sustained political will, increased resources, and stronger collaboration between the federal government and state authorities, the North could reverse its security challenges.
He maintained that Tinubu’s firm posture, especially his vow that “there will be no more hiding places for agents of evil”—has given new direction to the national security architecture.
He, therefore, called on Northern governors to match the president’s resolve with practical action in their respective states, insisting that the success recorded in Borno was proof that improved funding, strategic coordination, and community-level support could change the trajectory of insecurity.
