CAN Hails Senator Abiru for His Inclusive Service Model

The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State chapter, led by its Chairman, Rt. Rev. STV Adegbite, has praised the Senator representing Lagos East, Tokunbo Abiru for his non-discriminatory approach in the service of the people and even distribution of infrastructure and resources in the state, especially across the local government areas within his senatorial district.

The Lagos State Chapter of CAN gave the commendation when they paid a courtesy call to Senator Abiru in his Ikoyi, Lagos home.

Adegbite, who also serves as the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), commended Senator Abiru’s dedication to the continuous engineering of welfare programmes that enhance the living standard of the people all year round.

He acknowledged the free food distribution and empowerment exercise; construction of football stadium and sponsorship of table tennis tournament to encourage sports development; as well as the Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), a unique platform that offers cross-functional programmes and opportunities, as well as a basic foundation that encourages young people in the state (students, graduates, entrepreneurs, job seekers), irrespective of religious, ethnic or political background, to garner knowledge and skills to becoming self-sustaining as well as agents of economic growth.

The umbrella organization for all Christian denominations in the country thanked the lawmaker for his immense support for CAN in Lagos State, saying his generous support for the activities of the body, especially towards the on-going completion of the CAN secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, is laudable as well as heartwarming.

Rt. Rev. Adegbite, who is also the Chaplain, Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Chapel, prayed for the continued success of the lawmaker in office, saying more of him are needed in the task of nation-building.

Responding, Abiru, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions, who alongside Hon. Rotimi Abiru, former Chief Whip, Lagos State House of Assembly, received the religious leaders, thanked CAN for their cooperation, collaboration and support for his empowerment programmes and legislative activities.

He added that his programmes are in tandem with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda for the country, which aims to re-engineer the nation’s economy for growth and prosperity for all in a safe and secured environment.

Abiru encouraged the Christian leaders to always advocate and preach messages of peace, hope, tolerance and unity, urging them to continue to enlighten their congregation on President Tinubu’s policies to help realize the Nigeria of our dreams.

Other officers of the state chapter of CAN that were present, include Rev. (Dr. )Stephen Oyinlola, Director, State Matters; Apostle Gbenga Opasola, Treasurer and Bishop Theophilus Ajose.
