The rebellious faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Board of Trustees (BoT), has reaffirmed its commitment to organising congresses in states where they were yet to be held.

Chairman of the factional BoT Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, disclosed this yesterday in his opening address at the BoT meeting at the official residence of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike at Lifecamp, Abuja.

Ohuabunwa outlined the party’s roadmap to include conduct of overdue state congresses, consolidate ongoing achievements, and support the national leadership to steer the party back on course.

According to him, the steps were critical to ensuring unity, transparency and strengthening grassroots engagement.

He added that by holding timely congresses and reinforcing organisational discipline, PDP hoped to rebuild trust among members and present a more organised, credible front ahead of future elections.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the body to restoring confidence within the party while assuring members of the readiness of the national leadership to work collaboratively with all state chapters to bring fresh leadership and stability across the country.

He asserted the readiness of the BoT to provide encourgement and work with the National Working Committee as well as to support them to ensuring that the right things were done in line with the law and the guidance of the party and the NWC.

Ohuabunwa said: “Like I said, we are also making meaningful progress in reorganizing affected states, including the Constitution of Credible Caretaker Committees, to prepare the ground for transparent congresses and subsequent convention process.

“These efforts are aimed at building trust, strengthening internal structures, and ensuring that our party remains a model of fairness and inclusiveness in Nigerian democratic space. As the Constitution of our party entails, the Board of Trustees must continue to provide stability, wisdom, and moral guidance.

“Our responsibility is to safeguard the party’s soul, steer it away from divisive tendencies, and reinforce the values that have historically set the PDP apart as a disciplined and a democratically established institution. In this defining moment, therefore, we must rise above sentiments and act with unity of all.”
