In commemoration of her second year in office, the Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Apoti, recently recounted her challenges and projects executed, declaring that the period of her suspension from the National Assembly only strengthened her resolve to serve her constituents with greater dedication.
Speaking at a thanksgiving gathering, the senator, who began by expressing gratitude to God “for his mercy and strength through every challenge and victory,” noted that divine grace had been her anchor throughout her political journey.
She recalled the mandate given to her two years ago by “brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters” of Kogi Central, saying she remained “deeply humbled and eternally grateful” for the trust reposed in her.
She described the past two years as a period marked by trials, oppositions, and moments that tested her resolve.
One of the most defining, she said, was the six-month suspension imposed by the Senate; an action she maintained was unjust.
Despite her absence from legislative duties, she stressed her legitimacy remained intact, crediting her constituents for resisting what she termed a “despicable ploy” to recall her from the National Assembly.
“It was your resistance that birthed a renewed commitment to service on my part,” she said.
The senator then reeled out a list of constituency projects initiated and completed during the suspension period.
According to her, these include, “two brand new markets equipped with 80 shops each, abattoirs, electricity, water supply, and toilets; primarily benefiting market women.”
She also announced the completion of a new primary and secondary school, alongside teachers’ quarters, electricity, and water supply for the Fulani settlement in the Osarabogo community of Adavi Local Government Area.
Additional projects include 14 solar-powered water recirculation systems, 2,000 smart solar-powered streetlights across the five LGAs, a police housing quarters for the Ihima Police Station, a patrol van, and a speed bike for improved security operations.
“Other completed interventions include the provision of eight 500 kVA ABB transformers across the district and the empowerment of 2,000 constituents with tools such as solar-powered vehicles, deep freezers, gas cookers, sewing machines, farm spraying equipment, grinding machines, fishpond kits, and cobbler machines.”
She credited her legislative team, political supporters, and community leaders for enabling these accomplishments.
The senator also paid tribute to her husband, Chief Emmanuel Uduahan, whom she praised for his “love, patience, and quiet strength,” describing him as a steadfast partner throughout the journey.
She similarly acknowledged her colleagues in the Senate for their collaboration and support.
Looking ahead, the senator reaffirmed her commitment to remain “sensible, accountable, and action-driven,” pledging to continue serving with courage, compassion, and integrity.
“This celebration is not about me. It is about us; about the journey we have begun and the future we are building together,” she said, closing with prayers for Kogi Central, Kogi State, and Nigeria.
