National Devt: Tinubu Believes in Tech, Vocational Education Strategy, Says Omisore

Former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator lyiola Christopher Omisore, has noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu characteristic foresight has demonstrated an unshakeable belief in the strategic importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to the national progress.

Delivering his lecture at the 2nd Combined Convocation and 10th Anniversary Lecture Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Omisore said the Tinubu administration has also renewed investment in education, institutional reform, and industrial skills development that has ushered in a new dawn for Nigeria’s polytechnic system.

Omisore, the gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) who delivered the lecture titled: “Reimagining Polytechnic Education for the 21st-Century Economy,” contended that President Tinubu’s philosophy that “no nation can rise above the quality of its trained workforce” has continues to inspire both policy direction and institutional realignment across the country. 

He stressed that under his leadership, the education sector, particularly the technical and polytechnic sub-sector, has witnessed revitalized funding, improved governance structures, and strengthened linkages between institutions and industry.

According to him “We are especially grateful for his immense contribution to the growth, infrastructural transformation, and academic stability of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.”

The Osun State Gubernatorial Aspirant stressed that, “Through deliberate government support and enabling policy actions, this institution has risen as a beacon of technical excellence and innovation in the South-West region and beyond.”

“Today, as we celebrate ten remarkable years of academic excellence and community impact, we proudly affirm that President Tinubu’s administration has rekindled confidence in the value of technical education positioning it not as a fallback option, but as a vital driver of innovation, job creation, and industrial sustainability.

“His unwavering commitment to human capital development, skill acquisition, and technological advancement reflects a leadership deeply rooted in national renewal and prosperity.

“On this auspicious occasion, therefore, we salute His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership, patriotic devotion, and monumental contributions to Nigeria’s educational and industrial advancement”.

 He further said, “Mr. President, history will remember you kindly as the leader who reawakened Nigeria’s technical education with courage, foresight, and purposeful governance. May your legacy continue to inspire future generations to pursue knowledge, innovation, and national progress through the power of education.”

Omisore remarked that reimagining polytechnic education means bringing industry into the classroom and the classroom into industry.

He posited “Every student’s project must have an industrial or community relevance. Nigeria can replicate successful models such as Germany’s “Dual Vocational Training System”, where students split their learning between academic institutions and industries, gaining real-world experience while still in training”

The former deputy governor also charged authorities of polytechnics and Monotechnics to embark on paradigm shifts and train students in their areas of core competence.

 He commended Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Ademola lyanda Ebeloku, for his exceptional leadership, his tireless devotion to institutional advancement, and his continued efforts in positioning this Polytechnic as a centre of excellence in technical and vocational education.

He noted the Governing Council, Academic Board, and Polytechnic Community, with their collective sacrifice, diligence, and innovation have brought this institution to enviable height within just a decade of existence.

To our graduating students, he said, “congratulations. Today is not merely a celebration of certificates but a confirmation of competence and character, saying the Polytechnic has equipped you not just with skills, but with vision for innovate, and to lead the country to development. “
