In his acceptance speech, Asekutu thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him, promising to consolidate on the gains of his predecessor while reinforcing unity among affiliate unions and sustaining advocacy for fair wages and safe workplaces.
“This mandate is not for me alone but for every worker in Delta State. Together, we shall strengthen solidarity, push for fair wages, safer workplaces, and ensure transparency and accountability in our Congress,” he said.
He also pledged to engage both government and private employers on urgent labour concerns, including the escalating cost of living, job insecurity, and the need for improved working conditions across all sectors.
Labour advocate, Comrade Maryam Gali, commended the seamless transition, describing Asekutu’s emergence as “a renewed era of unity, commitment, and purposeful engagement on issues affecting workers in Delta State.”
