TEDx Admiralty Way Moves to Showcase Male Gender Narrative
For many years, men have struggled to find safe spaces to share their struggles, confront societal pressures, and express vulnerability without judgment.
But that tide is changing. Across
the world, awareness about men’s mental health, emotional intelligence, and identity is growing and in Lagos, one event is leading that charge.
This month, TEDx Admiralty Way will bring together an inspiring lineup of thought leaders, innovators, and change-makers to challenge traditional ideas and spark new conversations about what it truly means to be a man in today’s world.
Under the theme “Transforming Masculinity Through Infrastructure,” the TEDx event will explore how society can better support the boy child emotionally, socially, and structurally. The goal? To nurture a generation of men who lead with empathy, strength, and inclusivity.
“Masculinity isn’t about being a hard guy; it’s about showing up with strength and
softness,” says the TEDx Admiralty Way organizing team. “This event is about rebuilding the systems that teach boys who they’re allowed to be and helping men everywhere rediscover balance and purpose.”
The event will feature a dynamic lineup of speakers who bring expertise across leadership, wellness, and social transformation, including: H.E. Caleb Muftwang – Governor of Plateau State; Abubakar Suleiman – Managing Director, Sterling Bank; Tunde Onakoya – Founder of Chess in Slums Africa; Dr. Maymunah Kadiri – Consultant Psychiatrist & Emotional Wellness Expert; Obinna Ukachukwu – Growth Executive, Sterling Bank; Dr. Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji – Founder of Rise Networks; Olusola Olaleye – Serial Entrepreneur; and Omoruyi “Uyi Law” Edogiawere – Founder, EandC Legal.
The impactful event is convened by Kelechi Nwaozuzu and Obinna Ukachukwu and sponsored by many visionary brands like Cafe One, Filmhouse Cinemas, Quilo, Visionary Studios, Sterling Bank, BayRoyal International Ltd, Kaldi Africa, Hollandia (Chi), Red Bull, Fruta Jugo, Kaddos Cakes, Cake Mayor, One Bank, Coca Cola(NBC), Boshan, Nutrisnax, and McVities, committed to fostering meaningful conversations that shape the future.
This conversation is about rethinking the structures and systems that influence how men show up in families, workplaces, and communities. Through storytelling, powerful talks, and community-led discussions, TEDx Admiralty Way aims to: Challenge traditional masculinity norms; Empower the boy child narrative; Build sustainable community partnerships; and Inspire lasting social change.
The event will be held at Filmhouse Cinemas, Admiralty Way, Lekki on November 19th, 2025
