A surveyor, Gabriel Anyim, has petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17, Akure, over the alleged destruction of his building by a serving lawmaker from Okitipupa Local Government Area.

Anyim, in a petition made available to journalists in Akure on Tuesday, dated November 6, 2025, through his lawyer, Boluwaji Awololaju, urged the police authorities to launch a full investigation and bring the alleged culprit to justice.

According to the petition, the property in question is located at Block AG, Plot 24, Arijodi & Ologunmolare Families Layout, Promise Estate, along Ilado Road, Alagbaka Extension, in Akure South Local Government Area.

The petitioner alleged the lawmaker led an invasion of his building site, during which parts of the foundation and materials were vandalized.

Anyim, who resides at No. 1, Odofin Street, opposite St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School Junction, Akure, maintained he lawfully acquired the land from Surveyor Adams Azeez, who derived title from accredited representatives of the Arijodi and Ologunmolare families – the original owners of the layout.

His lawyer explained that due diligence was conducted before development commenced on the site.

“Our client began clearing the land, deposited building materials on site, and had already laid the foundation of his intended building without any challenges from any quarters,” the petition read in part.

Precisely, trouble reportedly began on October 17, 2025, when Anyim’s workers returned to the site to find part of the foundation destroyed.

“It is disheartening to note that some people invaded our client’s site and destroyed part of the foundation he laid,” the petition continued.

“The person who brought the heavy bombardment on the property left an inscription and his phone number on the remaining part of the foundation. It was through the Truecaller application that we identified the name of the person.”

The petitioner described the incident as “a deliberate act of provocation and criminal damage and urged the police to nip the brewing imbroglio in the bud” to prevent a possible breakdown of public peace.

Photographs of the alleged damage were attached to the petition as evidence.
