DOGARA DESCRIBES LATE REV. UMA UKPAI AS A SPIRITUAL INSTITUTION AND GENERATIONAL LIGHT

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman, Board of the National Credit Guarantee Company Limited (NCGC), Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, CFR, has described the late founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai, as a spiritual institution, a generational light, and one of the most consistent voices of revival in Africa.

Dogara said the late cleric was not only a preacher of the gospel but an embodiment of divine wisdom and power whose ministry remained distinct, pure, and powerful throughout his lifetime.

“Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai was a man whose ministry was unique and strange in its depth and simplicity. For decades, he maintained a sacred pattern of truth and power that never bowed to the trends of the times. His entire life was a testimony of divine consistency and uncommon grace,” Dogara said.

He noted that the late evangelist’s unwavering faith and tireless dedication to evangelism stood as a model for younger ministers and believers. “He was a father, a reformer, and a prophetic voice to the nation. Few men carried God’s presence the way he did,” Dogara added.

Dogara reflected on his early encounters with Rev. Ukpai’s ministry during his service year in Uyo, where he attended the famous ‘Thank God It’s Wednesday’ house fellowship. He described those meetings as “life-changing experiences filled with the raw power and presence of God.”

“Those moments marked me deeply. His teachings were not ordinary — they were life, they were spirit, and they carried divine authority. Rev. Uma Ukpai’s messages ignited a generation and proved that genuine revival is still possible,” Dogara recounted.

He said the late General of Faith was one of the few men who carried an undiluted message of holiness, humility, and power, reminding the Church that true ministry is about souls, not stages.

“Rev. Uma Ukpai was a voice of balance in a noisy generation — a man whose words healed hearts and whose life reflected the Christ he preached. He was a light that shone steadily in every season,” Dogara noted.

Dogara extended his condolences to the Uma Ukpai family, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, and the entire Body of Christ, urging them to continue the work he began with renewed zeal and unity.

“Though his physical presence is gone, his voice still speaks through the lives he touched and the fire he ignited. He has gone to join the great cloud of witnesses, but his impact remains immortal,” Dogara said.

He concluded by declaring that Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai was not just a man of God but a divine legacy in human form — a man who came, saw, and conquered through faith.
