The Youth Farmers Organization for Agricultural Development in Nigeria (YFOADN) has announced the 1st National Food Security Summit scheduled to hold on November 10, 2025, in Abuja.
The announcement followed the organization’s official visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos from September 30 to October 2, 2025.
Speaking during a press conference in Abuja, the National President of YFOADN, Hon. Abdulrahman Umar Etudaye, said the visit to the refinery was part of efforts to build partnerships that promote food security, agricultural development, and youth empowerment across the country.
Etudaye described the Dangote Refinery as a monumental leap toward Nigeria’s industrial renaissance and economic self-sufficiency, noting that its operations would help stabilize the economy, create jobs, and reduce dependence on imported refined products.
He said the refinery’s capacity of 650,000 barrels per day represents a major economic milestone capable of transforming Nigeria’s industrial landscape and driving sustainable growth.
As part of the event, YFOADN also inaugurated the Dangote Youth Ambassadors (DYA) — a network of young Nigerians who have benefited from Dangote empowerment programmes and are committed to promoting youth inclusion in agriculture and entrepreneurship.
Etudaye said the group would help inspire a new generation of youth dedicated to innovation, service, and national development.
The organization further announced Mr. Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, as the Chairman of the 1st National Food Security Summit. Etudaye said Edwin’s wealth of experience in industry and economic sustainability makes him well suited to lead discussions at the summit.
The upcoming summit, according to YFOADN, will serve as a platform for government agencies, private sector players, and youth leaders to develop strategies for a sustainable and inclusive food security framework.
Etudaye called on stakeholders — including ministries, development partners, and corporate organizations — to support the initiative, describing food security as a shared national responsibility.
“We are committed to building a food-secure Nigeria driven by empowered youth, innovation, and sustainable agricultural practices,” he said.
