In a dazzling display of creativity, innovation, and excellence, Agujiegbe Media formally unveiled its operations on September, 28th, 2025 setting the tone for what promises to be a trans-formative journey in the nation’s media industry. The event exuded elegance and grandeur, drawing attention from across the country as the brand positioned itself as a disruptor with a bold vision to redefine storytelling, set new benchmarks, and push the boundaries of modern media practice.
As the industry watched with keen anticipation, the launch marked not just the birth of a new brand but the dawn of a new era; one characterized by groundbreaking content, authentic narratives, and unapologetic creativity.
Welcoming guests to the ceremony, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Agujiegbe Media, Chief Afam Obi — popularly known as Ichie Anuka or Agujiegbe Ojoto — articulated his vision with clarity and conviction.
According to him, “The mission of Agujiegbe Media is simple yet profound — to bring major, verified information to the people and to foster meaningful networks.”
Chief Obi explained that Agujiegbe Media is dedicated to transforming storytelling through high-quality visuals, innovative content, and superior media solutions. He revealed that the platform currently boasts a network of over 1,000 members, with concrete plans to expand into television and radio broadcasting. “As God may have it, we must achieve our aim, because I cannot start what I cannot finish,” he affirmed with confidence and faith.
Presently, Agujiegbe Media operates as a digital platform focused on verified online news and creative media services. Yet, Chief Obi remains steadfast in his commitment to building a brand that will become a leading voice in the Nigerian media space. “We want to make sure that we bring verified information to people’s ears and strengthen our network,” he emphasized.
Speaking on the meaning behind the name “Agujiegbe” — which translates to “The Lion with the Gun” — Chief Obi described it as a metaphor for strength, courage, and strategic precision, qualities that embody the spirit of Agujiegbe Media.
He further shared insights into his entrepreneurial journey, noting his success in logistics and real estate through his companies, Unique Steps Logistics Limited and Unique Luxury Apartments, among others. This diverse business background, he explained, is a testament to his drive for excellence and innovation — values he now channels into his new media venture.
When asked why he ventured into media despite the challenges of the industry, Chief Obi expressed his unwavering determination:
“At the end of the day, our own must be the talk of the town. I want our own to be on top among all the social media in Nigeria,” he said, underscoring his commitment to building a legacy of excellence.
Addressing speculation about potential political affiliations, he was categorical in his response:
“No, no, no. This is a natural thing. We are all friends gathered to celebrate progress. This is a non-political activity.”
Chief Obi also emphasized Agujiegbe Media’s inclusive and transparent philosophy.
“We are open to all backgrounds and cultures. We don’t have a limited diversion or tribe — it’s a natural thing. We are very transparent in whatever we do,” he affirmed, highlighting the company’s commitment to diversity and fairness.
In his remarks as Chairman of the Occasion, High Chief (Dr.) Gideon Chidiebere Osi, Chairman of GOSIMA Group, applauded the vision and foresight behind Agujiegbe Media’s establishment, describing it as a clarion call for the Igbo nation to take its rightful place in the media and communication sectors.
He noted that despite the strong presence of Igbo professionals in various industries — from construction to transport, real estate, aviation and manufacturing — their representation in the media remains limited.
“Let it be known that this is one of the most important aspects of human life that our people are yet to fully harness — the media,” he stated emphatically.
Highlighting the power of information and communication, Chief Osi said:
“If an event takes place and it is not reported, it did not happen. We must invest to ensure that we control the narrative. It is what is reported that people know; and if you report it consistently, it becomes the order of the day.”
Commending Chief Obi’s initiative, he added: “What Agujiegbe has decided to do today is to invite us and wake us up — to understand the crucial role the media plays all over the world.”
Chief Osi also outlined a progressive roadmap for Agujiegbe Media’s growth, envisioning its expansion from online publishing to television broadcasting, newspaper production, and even media consultancy services capable of providing strategic insights to global media platforms.
He further underscored the job creation potential inherent in media enterprises of this magnitude:
“A media house of this scale will employ not less than two hundred to one thousand persons, working directly and indirectly with the firm.”
Concluding his remarks, Chief Osi expressed confidence that with collective support, Agujiegbe Media would soon rank among the most sought-after media brands in Nigeria.
“We want to take it to the next level of becoming one of the most sought-after media firms in Nigeria. And I know that with your support, my support, the support of the government, and Almighty God, this will become a reality.”
He extended congratulations to the founder, his family, and the media team, assuring that Nigeria would be proud to support them. “Congratulations to you and your wife and your children. Congratulations to your media team, who have been loyal to you all these years, and who have worked tirelessly to protect your ideas. We can assure you that Nigeria will be proud to support you.”
In essence, Agujiegbe Media is more than a company — it is a movement powered by vision, resilience, and purpose. With its firm commitment to verified information, inclusivity, and creative excellence, it stands poised to usher in a new era in Nigerian media.
