Pathetic Situation of Ex-Lagos  Lawmaker, Thomas Fadeyi

If you come across Hon. Thomas Fadeyi, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, you may be excused if you describe his current situation as pathetic or pitiable. The former lawmaker, who represented Mushin Constituency 2, is said to be experiencing the flip side of life, as he has been battling with blindness for the past three years. Society Watch gathered that at the outset of the health challenge, he could not get adequate medical attention owing to a lack of funds.

Fadeyi, who was one of the promoters of the famous Friends of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FOBAT,  many years ago, has reportedly relocated to Ibadan, Oyo State, where he is literally nursing his wound all by himself.

Speaking with Society Watch, a credible source who pleaded anonymity, revealed that “It is so bad that many of his friends and colleagues at the House of Assembly have all abandoned him to his fate; they all avoid him like a plague now. In fact, he has unsuccessfully tried to have a meeting with Hon. Obasa, who is believed to have tactically avoided him for reasons known to him.

“To make matters worse, his farm, which is his only source of livelihood, was invaded sometime ago, and everything he had on it was carted away, including the generating set.”

The source further disclosed that the only source of income has now gone. “He even had to sell his only car, an Infinity SUV worth N10 million, for a sum of N250,000 to defray his medical bill.”

While he represented his constituency at the commencement of the 4th Republic, Fadeyi was the Chairman, Committee for Rural Development and Vice Chairman, House Committee on Education.

He lost his re-election bid in 2023 solely for his uncompromising stance on some issues relating to governance in the state.
