Her Excellency, Hajiya (Dr) Aisha Bala Mohammed: First Woman to Receive the Peace Ambassador of Nigeria Honorary Award

Her Excellency, Hajiya (Dr) Aisha Bala Mohammed, First Lady of Bauchi State, has been conferred with the prestigious Peace Ambassador of Nigeria Honorary Award.

She makes history as the first woman and only the third individual to ever receive this distinguished recognition—an honor that underscores her lifelong commitment to peacebuilding, philanthropy, and humanitarian service.

A Legacy of Humanitarian Service

Born on 7th May, 1968 in Alkaleri, Bauchi State, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed was raised in a devout Islamic family where values of compassion and service were instilled early in her life. Guided by these values, she founded the Al-Muhibbah Foundation (AMF), a non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering women, children, and the less privileged. Through AMF, she has transformed countless lives—supporting widows, orphans, grassroots communities, and marginalized groups across Nigeria and beyond.

Her philanthropic journey began long before the formal establishment of AMF. She has consistently encouraged self-reliance, supported micro-scale businesses, and advanced community development initiatives in her hometown of Alkaleri, in Abuja, and internationally.

Champion of Education and Women Empowerment

Beyond philanthropy, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed has been a tireless advocate for education. Defying cultural barriers, she pursued her academic journey even after motherhood, later obtaining a degree in Public Administration from the University of Abuja. Today, she continues to champion education as the Chancellor and Founder of Al-Muhibbah Open University, a licensed private open university accredited by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC). This visionary institution reflects her commitment to human capital development and accessible education for all.
