Vincent-Obi: If Nigeria Must Develop Young Minds Must Be Transformed For Impact
Social entrepreneur and founder of Kidpreneur Africa, Juliet Vincent-Obi, has emphasised that if children and young people are truly the future of Nigeria, then they must be innovatively empowered to transform their future and that of the country.
Vincent-Obi, who is also the executive director of the organisation, made this on Tuesday in Lagos while speaking on the need to train and support young people and the organisations that are helping to shape their lives, education, and future.
Speaking on their forthcoming conference for young entrepreneurs, themed ‘Empowering young minds to transform their future’, she reminded Nigerians that what they teach and expose their children to, in these times that technology is disrupting education, finance, and business, matters a lot.
She stated that the Kidpreneur Conference, now in its sixth edition, is scheduled for October 21st – 25th at the Access Bank Headquarters in Lagos. She urged parents to leverage the conference and the entrepreneurial opportunities it offers to better the future of their children and society.
The Kidpreneur boss stated that the conference will cover fundamental entrepreneurship topics, including business planning, financial management, marketing, and sales. Innovation and creativity activities, developing innovative solutions, and tips on how to think outside the box will be covered too.
She added that leadership and public speaking skills will be covered, as well as industry-specific training in technology, creative arts, artificial intelligence (AI), animation, green business, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In light of this, she stressed that teaching children and young people the importance of saving, earning, and entrepreneurship from a young age gives them a head start in building a secure financial future.
Juliet Vincent-Obi stated that empowering young people with essential financial knowledge will enable them to make informed decisions, achieve long-term success, and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
“We are focusing on the current and future generations to bridge the financial literacy gap among Nigerian youth. By equipping young people with these skills, I envision a future where Nigeria’s youth can drive economic growth, make smart financial decisions, and achieve success,” she said.
The future for Nigerian young people looks promising, with many opportunities for growth and development. With the right skills, training, and support, they can start their own businesses, creating jobs and opportunities for others, and develop innovative solutions to address social and economic challenges.
“This is what the Kidpreneur Conference seeks to achieve — to contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth and development through entrepreneurship and innovation,” she said.
